OAB-RJ promotes, on December 1, a debate on Red December and the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.
The Red December campaign gains strength at OAB-RJ with a special event focused on access to rights and health for people living with HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
The initiative takes place on December 1, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Sylvio Capanema Plenary of ESA, the Higher School of Advocacy.
Organized by OAB-RJ’s Diversity Defense Board, the meeting brings together health professionals, lawyers and civil society representatives.
The main goal is to discuss the importance of legal advocacy in supporting people living with HIV/AIDS and in securing their fundamental rights.
The president of OAB-RJ, Ana Tereza Basilio, will open the event alongside director Nélio Georgini and other board members.
Debate panels and guests
The event features two debate panels that address different aspects of the topic.
The first panel focuses on medical aspects and public health, with the participation of physician Ticiana Sampaio, DIP head Luis Fernando Cabral Passoni and Inca nurse Iris Basílio.
The second panel addresses the reception and rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, with lawyers Maria Eduarda and Bruna Lugato, both from the Diversity Defense Board.
Partnerships and human rights commitment
In partnership with IAB Nacional and the Vozes project, which conducts HIV testing initiatives, OAB-RJ reinforces its commitment to the defense of human rights.
The initiative also focuses on fighting prejudice and stigma that still affect people living with HIV/AIDS.
The event highlights the key role of legal advocacy in guaranteeing rights and promoting welcoming care for people with HIV/AIDS and STIs.
