Alcobaça Apple, certified IGP since 1994, debuts its own booth at Fruit Attraction São Paulo 2026, targeting Brazil’s growing premium fruit market.
The Alcobaça Apple was one of the highlights at Fruit Attraction São Paulo 2026, held from March 24 to 26 at São Paulo Expo, Stand G28. The participation signals a clear strategic push by Portuguese producers to strengthen their foothold in Brazil, a market increasingly receptive to premium, certified-origin produce.
An Apple Backed by European Certification
Grown in the orchards of central Portugal, the Alcobaça Apple IGP is produced under a carefully controlled, sustainable farming model that incorporates agroecological practices and biodiversity promotion. In 1994, the European Union awarded it the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, officially certifying its origin and authenticity.
The unique natural conditions of the region — nestled between Atlantic ocean influence and the protection of the Montemuro and Candeeiros mountain ranges — are behind the apple’s distinctive qualities. The combination of fertile soil, favorable climate, strong sunlight, and sea breeze gives the fruit a deeper color, a balanced sweet-tart flavor, a fresh aroma, and exceptional nutritional value.
56 Square Meters to Showcase Portugal
At the fair, the Alcobaça Apple Producers Association occupied a stand of approximately 56 m². Visitors, buyers, and distributors had the chance to taste the product firsthand, explore its differentiating characteristics, and learn about the sustainable production practices behind every apple grown in the Portuguese orchards.
Fruit Attraction is one of the world’s leading trade fairs for the fresh produce sector, bringing together growers, buyers, and industry experts from across the globe. Its São Paulo edition positions the event as a key business platform for those seeking access to the Latin American market.
The participation in Fruit Attraction São Paulo 2026 is part of a set of initiatives under the Collective Actions Support System – Internationalization project, co-funded by the European Union (Compete 2030-ERDF), aimed at promoting Alcobaça Apple IGP in international markets.
The project aims to boost exports, foster innovation, and enhance Portugal’s competitiveness and international visibility in the agri-food sector.
