This Sunday (2/8), Goiânia’s Martim Cererê Cultural Center hosts the event’s first edition, created by Reila Miranda. Even before opening day, the fair has already surpassed 75,000 social media views, signaling strong interest in a format that blends the creative economy, inclusive income generation, and action for gender equity.

Reila conceived the fair as a public thank-you to science and Brazil’s public health system, the SUS, after recovering from intestinal cancer. “After I was cured, I realized my life needed to serve something bigger. The Fair is born from gratitude and the certainty that we must help build a fairer society—with equity, opportunities, and collective care,” she says.

SUS, science, and collective care

The opening will include a symbolic moment of gratitude to the SUS, to science, and to the team at Hospital Araújo Jorge, which the organizers credit as essential in Reila’s treatment. Dr. Daniel Santana, the physician responsible for the hospital’s digestive system area, will attend as recognition of healthcare teams and the value of humanized care.

By spotlighting public healthcare, the Raiz Feminina Fair also frames inclusion policies, professional training, and women’s income strengthening as part of the same transformation. Entry is a solidarity contribution: 1 kg of non-perishable food, donated to the Center for the Valorization of Women (Cevam).

A year-round training project

Beyond selling products and services, the initiative is designed as a continuous project. With support from SEBRAE Delas, Pachamama Socioambiental, and HUB Goiás, the fair sets up a learning track for participants, with training in management, women’s entrepreneurship, and sustainability.

The plan is to keep the program active throughout the year, expanding financial autonomy and women’s leadership. Organizers also point to high demand from women interested in future editions, reflecting the need for permanent spaces that value and strengthen women in Goiânia.

Sustainability and support for women

Sustainability is another pillar. Exhibitors were instructed to adopt environmentally responsible practices, and the fair’s logistics aim to reduce impacts. Food collected at the door will be delivered monthly to Cevam, an organization that shelters and supports women who are survivors of violence in Goiás.

Bringing together culture, health, income, and social justice, the Raiz Feminina Fair opens with expectations of strong attendance throughout the day. The event welcomes anyone who wants to celebrate women’s leadership and support social causes.
