Casa Ronald RJ will host the “Achou, Levou” charity fair from February 2 to 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., selling goods seized at airports and ports and later donated to the organization. All proceeds will fund the shelter and services offered to children and teens undergoing cancer treatment, as well as their families.

Donations via Receita Cidadã

The items were donated in late 2025 through Receita Cidadã, a Federal Revenue program that turns irregular goods into social benefit. It reallocates seized items to charities, philanthropic institutions, and health units, while also encouraging sustainability by reducing waste and promoting shared use.

In total, more than 4,000 items across 35+ categories will be available, including electronics, small appliances, fishing gear, toys, and Carnival costumes.

50% off and prices from \(R\$ 5\)

Organizers say many products are priced at more than 50% below estimated market value. Highlights include Xtreme speakers for \(R\$ 80\) (estimated at \(R\$ 210\)), air fryers for \(R\$ 100\) (estimated at \(R\$ 220\)), fishing reels marked down from \(R\$ 160\) to \(R\$ 80\), and sandwich makers for \(R\$ 40\).

Admission is free. Payments are accepted by debit and credit card, Pix, and cash. The fair takes place at Rua Pedro Guedes, 44 and 29, in Maracanã, near São Cristóvão metro station.

Fundraising to keep care running

According to Carlos Neves, Casa Ronald RJ’s operations director, the partnership strengthens the organization’s fundraising strategy. Today, bazaars and fairs account for 14% of the unit’s annual revenue.

“This is an unprecedented partnership for Casa Ronald RJ and extremely relevant to the sustainability of our work. Beyond ensuring a proper social destination for seized goods, the donation expands our fundraising capacity and directly supports the humanized care we provide every day to children in treatment and their families.”

Three decades of support in Rio

For more than 30 years, Casa Ronald RJ has provided free lodging, meals, transportation, and psychosocial support to pediatric oncology patients and their families from across Brazil. The NGO is known for human-centered care and relies on volunteers, partners, and donors to keep its programs going.

Founded in October 1994, Casa Ronald McDonald Rio de Janeiro was the first Casa Ronald in Latin America and the 162nd in the world. With capacity for up to 114 people, it is also the largest in Brazil. Over three decades, it reports more than 400,000 stays, 1 million meals served, 40,000+ hospital trips, 50,000 food baskets distributed, and 5,000+ social assistance visits.
