The French entertainment and community multinational officially unveiled a new competitive series built for Brazil’s Fighting Game Community (FGC). The circuit is designed to bring high-visibility, in-person tournaments to the country’s biggest gaming stages.

Debut at gamescom latam

The first edition of Versus One takes place on May 1 and 2, 2026, during gamescom latam — Latin America’s largest gaming festival — at the Distrito Anhembi in São Paulo. The event spans 12 hours of competition, with day one dedicated to qualifying rounds and day two to the grand finals.

The debut title is the highly anticipated Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, featuring a bracket of 64 competitors. The choice signals a clear alignment with one of the most relevant fighting game releases in the global scene.

A path to the SNK World Championship

Versus One will serve as an Official Master 2 Qualifier for the SNK World Championship 2026. Players who reach the Top 8 will earn ranking points in the race for 13 coveted spots at the world championship. The stage winner gets a decisive boost in the global SWC 2026 standings.

By integrating SNK’s official circuit, the tournament raises the international profile of Brazilian competitors and positions the country as a key hub in the global fighting game ecosystem.

Brazil leads South America’s FGC market

The launch comes at a strategic moment: Brazil is South America’s largest fighting game market, accounting for roughly one-third of the region’s genre revenue. The tournament’s multi-platform format combines online and offline deliverables, an exclusive documentary, broad coverage by IGN Brasil, and live arena activations.

“Versus One is the FGC’s new stage in Brazil. We designed this circuit to be a unique competitive spectacle, one that recognizes the potential of fighting games and delivers the recognition the community deserves.” — Matheus Vasconcellos, Gaming Content and Products Manager, Webedia Brasil

Mauro Borges, General Director of Planning and Sales at Webedia Brasil, emphasized the business opportunity for brands. “We built Versus One with multiple touchpoints for brands to connect with this highly engaged community and its enormous conversation potential. Launching the first event at gamescom latam will also deliver a much broader audience for brands at a moment of peak relevance in the gaming world,” he said.

Free registration with festival pass included

To lower barriers for players, registration is completely free and includes one ticket plus a guest pass for gamescom latam 2026. The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on competitors so they can fully enjoy the broader festival experience beyond the tournament floor.
