D&D Shopping and SPFW mark 30 years with exhibitions combining fashion, design and sustainability in São Paulo.
D&D Shopping celebrates three decades of creativity in an evening that also marks the 30th anniversary of São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW), the country’s leading fashion event founded by Paulo Borges. The celebration takes place on October 30 and unites fashion, design and innovation.
D&D Fashion Design exhibition
Among the highlights is the 3rd edition of “D&D Fashion Design”, featuring about 40 iconic pieces of 20th-century design and 53 fashion looks by Brazilian designers. The show is part of the Mezzanine’s inauguration, the mall’s new wing, and explores the connection between style, architecture and behavior.
The exhibition is curated by journalist Regina Galvão and includes classics such as the Red and Blue Chair by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1917), the Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer (1925), and the Grand Confort Chair by Le Corbusier (1928). The oldest piece is the rocking chair by Gebruder Thonet (1860). Also on display are iconic lamps such as Nessus by Artemide (1962).
Fashion and sustainability
The exhibition features both new and archive pieces by participating designers. In 2025, the collaboration between fashion and design gains strength under the curatorship of Oskar Metsavaht, who oversees materials and sustainability, and Paulo Borges, who selected top Brazilian designers.
Among the participants are Alexandre Herchcovitch, Aluf, Angela Brito, Amir Slama, Apt 03, Catarina Mina, Day Molina, Flávia Aranha, Gustavo Silvestre, João Pimenta, Lino Villaventura, Marcello Sommer, Mauricio Duarte, Normando, Osklen, P Andrade, Reptilia and Ronaldo Fraga.
“The exhibition reaffirms fashion as a tool for cultural and social transformation, celebrating 30 years of vision across past, present and future,” says Paulo Borges.
Tribute and legacy
Another attraction is the “Your Story, Our Story” exhibition, honoring founders, retailers, architects and designers who helped build the mall’s legacy. Photographs displayed in the corridors highlight D&D Shopping’s importance as a national design reference.
“Celebrating 30 years is no small feat. D&D Shopping and its more than 70 retailers have every reason to keep placing Brazilian design on the world map,” says Ângelo Derenze, the mall’s general director.
