The 2nd Boteco Food Circuit brings 20 restaurants to Gravatá through Easter Sunday, closing with live music at Alto do Cruzeiro on April 5.
Holy Week in the city of Gravatá, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, is getting a flavorful twist in 2026. The 2nd Circuito de Comida de Boteco de Gravatá — a grassroots bar food festival — connects 20 local bars and restaurants offering exclusive dishes through Easter Sunday, April 5. The closing celebration takes place at Alto do Cruzeiro from 3 PM onward, featuring a food showcase and live performances by Grupo Nosso Segredo and singer Gerlane Lops.
Bold flavors from the Northeast
The menu highlights reflect the depth of Pernambuco’s culinary tradition. One standout dish features goat tenderloin cubes in cream sauce, served with cassava chips and pineapple-pepper jam — a creative take on a deeply regional ingredient. Another features slow-cooked pork ribs in their own braising liquid, paired with plantain vinaigrette.
More traditional options include two versions of arrumadinho (a northeastern bean dish with cured beef), sarapatel (a spiced offal stew), pork knee, baião de dois (rice and beans), crab fritters, costela sandwich, and artisan pizza topped with shredded cured beef, coalho cheese, and red onion.
A city built on good food
Gravatá holds a well-earned reputation as Pernambuco’s fourth gastronomic hub. The city is a gateway to the Agreste highland region, known for its wood-fired cooking, market-style homemade dishes, and an unexpected Swiss-inspired fondue tradition that draws visitors year-round.
The participating venues
The 20 establishments taking part are: A Feijoada, Caldinho da Serra, Bar Esquina do Arrocho, Carlos do Bode Bar e Restaurante, Serra & Mar Bar e Comedoria, Boulevard 232, Bucks The Pub, João de Barro Comedoria Nordestina, Sr. Boteco, Lucas do Espetinho, Seu Arlindo, Fazenda e Fogão Mandacaru, Buchada da Serra, Dudu Bar e Restaurante, Cozinha Moreira Petiscaria, Pirata Bar e Restaurante, No Jardim Restaurante, Cantinho da Paz, Bar e Restaurante O Gordo e O Magro, and Terraço da Colina Petiscaria.
The event is organized by the Gravatá City Hall through its Tourism, Culture, Sports and Leisure Secretariat, in partnership with Instituto César Santos and Sebrae. Sponsors include Supermercados Santana, Pitú, Exclusive Gold, and the Pernambuco State Government through Empetur and Fundarpe.
The real danger here is forgetting it’s Holy Week and surrendering entirely to the sin of gluttony.
