A Story That Started in the Kitchen

Back in 1986, Sônia noticed a gap in the market: people trying to lose weight or improve their diet had no practical way to eat differently from the rest of their family. She had already been adapting recipes — cutting fat, adding balance, never sacrificing flavor. What started as a home project grew into a brand trusted by thousands of families across Brazil.

Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, Congelados da Sônia stands as a benchmark in healthy, home-style frozen meals. The brand delivers ready-made dishes across Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, with orders placed via the website, phone, or WhatsApp.

A Truly Family Business

The company is run by Sônia’s two daughters and son-in-law. Adriana leads marketing and sales, Alessandra oversees recipes and product development, and Bruno manages finances. Around 50 employees make up this extended family, all trained to meet rigorous quality and hygiene standards.

Food safety is a top priority. Production undergoes periodic microbiological testing, barcode tracking, the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) program, and the PCAL allergen control program, which maps and manages ingredients such as gluten and dairy to prevent cross-contamination.

Today, Dona Sônia lives in Teresópolis, in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, watching with pride as her family carries the business forward. “I now live life with more calm, happy and at peace. It was 40 years of hard work, dedication, and love. Seeing the factory running, the brand strong, my family taking care of everything — from management to the kitchen — and so many employees who have become family gives me a sense of duty fulfilled. It’s like looking at it all and knowing it was worth it,” she says.

Congelados da Sônia isn’t just for people on a diet. The menu serves families, couples, solo diners, seniors, pregnant women, and children. Options include light dishes, meats, poultry, fish, pasta, vegetarian choices, soups, and snacks — all with nutritional information available on the website.

Light Line (L) — 300g | 300 calories: designed for weight management but also great for pregnant women, seniors, and children. Fan favorites include Eggplant Parmesan, Cannelloni with Cheese and Turkey Ham, Light Feijoada, and the classic Tia Maria’s Pasta. New addition: Sliced Cupim with Broccoli, slow-roasted for 16 hours.

Light Plus Line (L+) — 430g | 400 calories: for bigger appetites or sharing with the family. Highlights include Frango de Blusinha (marinated chicken) and Tia Maria’s Pasta.

You’re the Chef Line: build your own plate by choosing proteins and sides separately. Options include Bean Soup, Roast Beef, Low-Carb Shrimp Bobó, and Vegan Rösti Potatoes.
