A surprise Carnival bloco and oversized street-food “podrões” take over Carioca Shopping’s rooftop Feb 6–8, with free admission and family fun
Rio’s beloved Feira Nacional do Podrão returns for its 33rd edition at the Carioca Shopping rooftop terrace (G5), bringing a pre-Carnival vibe to the city’s North Zone.
The event gathers around 30 vendors across five thousand square meters, designed for comfort and safety, plus a dedicated kids’ entertainment area.
Feira do Podrão: what’s on the menu
Classic crowd-pleasers are back, including Marechal Hermes’ famous Fries (“Batata Frita de Marechal Hermes”), a street-food symbol of Rio’s suburbs and officially recognized as Material Cultural Heritage of the City of Rio de Janeiro.
Expect headline-grabbing portions like the “Three-Kilo Burger,” “Two-Kilo Coxinha,” “Two-Kilo Acarajé,” a 120-centimeter hot dog, plus churros towers, griddled ice cream, barbecue, and more street-food favorites.
To beat the heat, newcomers include “Pudim Popsicle” and Nitrogen Ice Cream.
Music, bloco, and kids’ zone
Beyond food, the weekend leans into Carnival with a surprise bloco appearance, alongside a DJ set, samba circle, and pagode performances.
“It will be a weekend filled with samba, great food, and fun for the whole family.”
The quote comes from Suzanne Malta, the project’s creator and promoter and the digital influencer behind @ondecomernorio, who produces the event alongside Filipe, an architect and producer.
Marketing manager Michelle Coutinho says the fair’s comeback after the Jan/25 edition also helps kick off the mall’s 25th anniversary celebrations, expanding vacation-season leisure options for visitors.
For children, the setup includes recreation staff, cotton candy, and rides like a mechanical bull, a large slide, Discoplay, an inflatable alligator, trampolines, and an Inflatable jump house.
