New Araá restaurant opens at Sugarloaf Cable Car Park, celebrating Brazilian cuisine and ingredients overlooking Guanabara Bay.
The Sugarloaf Cable Car Park welcomes the Araá restaurant, located at Morro da Urca, with a stunning view of Guanabara Bay. The project is led by the Cúpula Group, represented by Francesco Carnevale, Patric Gallo, Pedro Heiner, and Raphael Franca. The new venue enhances the visitor experience, uniting gastronomy, nature, and culture in one of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic settings.
With a strong Brazilian identity, Araá highlights native ingredients and the art of local hospitality. Designed for 200 guests, the space blends landscape and dining. The menu features contemporary techniques, regional influences, and 100% Brazilian ingredients, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, with fresh cocktails and a tropical ambiance.
“We are very happy to open this great celebration of Brazilian cuisine in one of the country’s most iconic places,” says Pedro Heiner, Araá partner. “Araá was born as a journey through our flavors, and there could be no better home than the Sugarloaf Cable Car Park.”
The menu includes appetizers such as Amazon Ceviche and cheese bread with sausage, main dishes like Beef Picadinho and Shrimp Bobó, plus vegan options. Desserts evoke memories with creamy coconut sweet and Romeo and Juliet pie.
In charge of the kitchen is chef Joaquim Laborde, formerly of MEE at Copacabana Palace and Tartuferia Giapponese in São Paulo. With over a decade dedicated to exploring Brazilian flavors, he brings culinary identity and emotion to Araá.
“The Sugarloaf Cable Car Park celebrates the arrival of Araá, a concept that blends gastronomy, scenery, and Brazilian spirit. This partnership will make every visit truly unforgettable,” says Gustavo Maciel, general manager of Sugarloaf Cable Car Park.
The opening reinforces the park’s mission to offer experiences beyond the traditional tour, connecting nature, culture, and hospitality, and inviting visitors to fully enjoy Morro da Urca.
