Sommer Wein, a Brazilian adaptation of Glühwein, will be served at Pomerode Christmas Market from November 26 to January 4.
Inspired by the German mulled wine, the cold drink was created by German resident in Pomerode, Andreas Odenthal, to bring the Christmas spirit to Brazil’s summer heat.
“In Brazil, our Christmas is hot, so traditional Glühwein wouldn’t work. We opted for a refreshing drink that maintains the same festive feeling,” explains Odenthal, who runs the Brennstube distillery with his wife, Jeane Odenthal.
The recipe includes full-bodied red wine, orange juice, cinnamon, clove, ginger, and two award-winning liqueurs: Vanilla Gold and Arancello. At the Christmas Market, it will be served in an exclusive mug.
Gastronomy and attractions
Besides the summer wine, the event features Stollen, a traditional Christmas cake, and typical snacks such as sausage popcorn, large sausages, and Blumenau sausage pastries.
The market is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entry and most activities are free.
The program includes theater, music, ballet, decorations, family workshops, Noel Haus Kyly, Natal Atelier with live artisan demonstrations, artificial snow, Christmas parades, and themed contests.

The event is organized by Associação Visite Pomerode (Avip), sponsored by the City Hall, Tourism Secretariat, SC State Government, and local companies, with support from associations and charitable organizations.
