A gourmet Brazilian ice pop kicks off Ilha Plaza’s Summer Flavors Festival: free cooking workshops run on Jan 17, 24 and 31.
Right in the middle of Rio’s summer heat, Ilha Plaza Shopping is turning Saturday afternoons into a hands-on food experience. The “Summer Flavors Festival,” created with Instituto Gourmet, brings free workshops focused on light, cooling recipes that are easy to recreate at home—perfect for kids on break and adults looking for practical ideas.
Hands-on workshops for all ages
The sessions are designed to be practical and family-friendly. Children can join in, as long as they’re accompanied by a parent or guardian.
On January 17, the spotlight is on a gourmet sacolé—a Brazilian frozen treat that’s a summer staple, upgraded with new flavors and techniques. On January 24, the theme shifts to healthier everyday meals, with sandwiches, salads and nutritious sauces. The festival wraps on January 31 with a class on non-alcoholic drinks, featuring refreshing, creative combinations.
Registration must be made in advance via WhatsApp, as spots are limited. Two time slots per day make it easier to fit the activity into a weekend outing.
