Revamp blends history and arts programming

Edson Pinto takes over after father Nelson de Abreu Pinto’s 2025 passing. Founded in 1910, Guanabara Bar adds structural upgrades and veteran waiter service. It keeps old São Paulo charm with historic murals.

Saturday afternoons feature Trio Elegante, curated by Guga Stroeter. Thursdays launch happy hour from 5:30pm to 8:30pm with local musicians. “The bar hadn’t opened nights since the 1970s,” says owner Edson Pinto.

Centro revitalization by City Hall and State Government boosts safety and activity. Chef Rafael Spencer’s menu highlights classics like filet à parmegiana and feijoada.

“Guanabara Bar is where you eat, hear music, share memories and live the city.”

Living heritage of paulistana culture

Patronized by artists, intellectuals and politicians, historian Boris Fausto called it a daytime elite commerce spot and nighttime bohemian hub. At 115 years, it anchors São Paulo’s food and cultural scene.
