Crispy sardine, squid, shrimp and octopus shape the “Altar”, a boat honoring Iemanjá launched by Dida Bar in Lapa, blending sea flavors, ancestry and Afro-Brazilian cuisine for $40.
On February 2, Iemanjá Day, the Sea Queen gets a tasty tribute in Rio’s buzzing Lapa district.
Sea Treasures on a Platter
Dida Bar and Restaurant, a hub for Afro-Brazilian eats, unveils the “Altar”. It features crispy fried sardine, breaded squid rings, fresh shrimp, grilled octopus and mussels.
Paired with citrus vinaigrette and lime, it bursts with textures and ocean vibes. Priced at R$ 199 (about $40), available February 2.
A sensory and spiritual journey, inspired by the patron of fishermen.
Chef Dida Nascimento crafts it, weaving technique, personal memories and African roots into every bite.
Heritage in Lapa’s Heart
Nestled at Rua do Lavradio, 192, Dida calls a historic 19th-century townhouse home. Exposed stone walls add timeless charm.
