Megamatte, one of Brazil’s most recognized quick-service food chains, has just opened a new location at Shopping Araruama, strengthening its footprint in the Lagos Region of Rio de Janeiro state. The move places the brand at one of the city’s busiest retail and leisure hubs, reflecting a broader shift toward convenience-driven dining in cities with growing urban and tourism profiles.
Araruama has been experiencing rising demand for practical, affordable, and wellness-oriented food options. That demand comes not only from residents, but also from the steady flow of visitors who use the city as a gateway to the wider Lagos Region — particularly on weekends and during peak tourist season.
Jobs, growth, and strategic positioning
The new unit opens with four direct jobs and diversifies the food court offering at Shopping Araruama, which serves as the city’s main commercial and entertainment destination. The operation reinforces the mall’s role as a local consumption hub.

Franchisee Márcio Barbosa says the location was chosen based on local consumer behavior and the city’s commercial dynamics. “Shopping Araruama had very few café-style options focused on quick bites and more balanced products. Megamatte fills that gap and serves a public that was already showing this demand on a daily basis,” he notes.
Menu and brand identity
The menu features the chain’s signature items: iced maté, organic açaí, Brazilian cheese bread, fresh juices, and quick snacks. With over 30 years of history, Megamatte also operates another unit in the Lagos Region, in Rio das Ostras, and continues its sustainable expansion across the Rio de Janeiro interior.
