With 92 points in Descorchados 2026, Miolo Giuseppe Sémillon 2023 and Millésime Brut 2020 earn “Highlight” titles in white and traditional-method Brut.
Miolo Wine Group stands out as one of Brazil’s top names in the Descorchados 2026 guide, taking the highest recognitions in two competitive categories. Miolo Giuseppe Sémillon 2023 scored 92 points and was named Highlight among the Best Whites. Miolo Millésime Brut 2020 also scored 92 points and took Highlight among the Best Traditional Method Brut.
The scores underscore Miolo’s technical consistency and range of styles under blind tastings led by one of South America’s most respected wine publications. At the same time, they signal how Brazilian labels continue to gain space in the region’s toughest lineups.
“Being among Descorchados highlights, especially in such competitive categories, confirms that ongoing research, technical precision, and respect for terroir deliver consistent results over time.”
The statement comes from Adriano Miolo, the company’s Managing Director, who points to long-term planning behind the results. He credits the team’s dedication and a vision built over years, not a single vintage.
Descorchados 2026 spotlights Millésime Brut 2020
Carrying the Vale dos Vinhedos Denomination of Origin, Miolo Millésime Brut 2020 is positioned as an ultra-premium sparkling wine. It is made by the traditional method and spent 18 months on lees (autolysis). The blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, both grown in the estate São Gabriel vineyard in Vale dos Vinhedos.
As a vintage sparkling first released in 2004, it remains the brand’s most sought-after bottle. It was previously named the Southern Hemisphere’s best traditional-method sparkling by Steven Spurrier. Now, the guide places it again among the leading traditional-method Brut selections.
That recognition also reinforces Vale dos Vinhedos as a key Brazilian origin for high-level sparkling wines, where site expression meets disciplined winemaking.
More Miolo labels mentioned
Beyond the two top-scoring bottles, other wines from the group were recognized in this edition. The list includes Miolo Single Vineyard Touriga Nacional 2022 and Miolo Merlot Terroir 2022. It also features Terranova Brut Chenin Blanc & Verdejo 2022, highlighting the terroir of Brazil’s São Francisco Valley in the country’s semi-arid Northeast.
