No sulfites, wild fermentation, and whole-cluster carbonic maceration: Miolo Wild Gamay 2026 is Brazil’s first red wine of the year, hitting shelves in March.
Vinícola Miolo is getting ahead of the season by releasing the first Brazilian red wine of the 2026 harvest. Crafted in the Campanha Meridional region from grapes grown at the Seival Estate vineyards in Candiota, this label stays true to the free-spirited philosophy that has defined the project since its debut in 2020.
An ancestral technique built for freshness
The Miolo Wild Gamay is produced using whole-cluster carbonic maceration, an ancestral winemaking technique that preserves freshness, aromatic purity, and soft tannins. With no added sulfites (SO₂) and fermentation driven entirely by wild, native yeasts, the wine achieves a light, vibrant profile that already hints at the character of the new vintage.
The wine is made from two French clones — Gamay Fréaux and Gamay de Bouze — grown in Candiota, underscoring the Campanha Gaúcha region’s potential beyond its more traditional varieties.
In the glass: deep ruby and fresh strawberry
The wine pours a deep ruby with violet hues. On the nose, it opens with fresh strawberry, guava, and subtle hints of caramelized apple. On the palate, it delivers on its promise: light, balanced, and highly enjoyable, with silky tannins and refreshing acidity.
International recognition and vegan certification
Drawing inspiration from the iconic French Beaujolais Nouveau, Miolo Wild Gamay holds a remarkable distinction: it is the only non-European Gamay recognized at the Concours International du Gamay, held in Lyon, France. The wine also carries a 100% vegan certification from The Vegan Society.
It represents our ability to interpret global trends with a Brazilian identity. This is a wine born from freedom, but grounded in technical rigor. Getting to market this early demands process mastery and a precise read of the harvest. Adriano Miolo, CEO of Miolo Wine Group
