Carnival has arrived and São Paulo offers unexpected vegetarian alternatives for those who won’t compromise on flavor during the celebration. Three burger joints in the city bet on signature recipes with fresh ingredients and surprising combinations.

Patties Vegê: the black rice burger

Known for its social media presence, Patties Burger created the Patties Vegê (R$ 19). The highlight is the two patties made from black rice, accompanied by cheese, pickles, onion, ketchup, and mustard.

The chain has five locations spread across Greater São Paulo. The burger combines innovation with an affordable price, making it a democratic option for the vegetarian crowd.

Joakins maintains tradition since 1965

The classic Joakins restaurant in Itaim Bibi serves the Veggie Kin’s (R$ 38.20). The recipe features a vegan mushroom burger, white cheese, tomato, arugula, and mustard sauce on whole wheat bread.

With almost 60 years of history, the establishment maintains the service and flavor standards that made it a city reference. The place stays open until late on weekends, perfect for recharging during the festivities.

Pão sem Carne proves it’s possible

Ironically named, Pão com Carne (Bread with Meat) offers the Pão sem Carne Salada (Bread without Meat Salad) for R$ 41. The soy-based veggie burger comes with sesame bun, American cheese, chopped onion, sweet pickles, tomato, lettuce, and special sauce.

The Itaim location operates Monday through Saturday, serving both lunch and dinner. The option demonstrates how traditional burger joints adapt their menus to include customers seeking plant-based alternatives.
