Momo Gelato launches ‘Wagner Momo’, a mangaba gelato inspired by Oscar-nominated “The Secret Agent”, hitting stores on March 7.

Brazil is riding a wave of pride this awards season. “The Secret Agent” — directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho and starring Wagner Moura — earned four nominations at the 2026 Academy Awards, and Rio de Janeiro gelateria Momo Gelato found a delicious way to join the celebration: a seasonal gelato called ‘Mangaba Wagner Momo’.
The flavor launches on March 7 — the same month as the Oscar ceremony — at all locations in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
The taste of Brazil’s Northeast
The gelato is built on Momolatte — the house’s exclusive fior di latte — and stars the mangaba, a bittersweet, slightly tart fruit beloved in Recife. The choice is no coincidence: it roots the flavor in the same Northeastern Brazilian world that inspired the film.
The Mangaba ‘Wagner Momo’ is priced from R$ 27 (100g) and is crafted fresh daily, following the gelateria’s artisanal standards.

From Leblon to São Paulo
Momo Gelato was founded by Walter de Mattos — economist, athlete, and creator of sports daily Lance! — after years of studying the craft of Italian gelato. The first location opened in the upscale Leblon neighborhood in January 2014 and has since grown to seven stores across Rio de Janeiro.
In 2022, Momo expanded to São Paulo with a flagship concept store in Jardins. A second São Paulo location followed in 2025 in the Pinheiros neighborhood. Gelato master Kátia Mattos leads the creative direction, blending Italian tradition with distinctly Brazilian flavors.
Fan favorites include paçoca com pé de moleque (peanut brittle), brigadetto (Brazilian chocolate truffle), and paglia italiana. In 2024, the brand launched Momo P.S, a high-protein gelato line. All recipes use fresh whole milk and real fruit — organic whenever possible.
