Wine recommends award-winning bottles and snacks for the Golden Globe, cheering for O Agente Secreto.
With Brazilian cinema gaining international attention, awards season is a great excuse to gather friends, serve easy bites, and plan smart pairings. In 2026, the spotlight goes to O Agente Secreto, which earned three Golden Globe nominations, including Best Actor in a Drama for Wagner Moura.
To set the mood for the ceremony on January 11, Thamirys Schneider, sommelier at Wine—the world’s largest wine subscription club—shares award-winning picks and food pairings to enjoy the night and root for the Brazilian contender and other favorites.
Brazilian sparkling with canapés
For a celebratory start, the recommendation is Maraví Rosé Brut, made with Garnacha (75%) and Chenin Blanc (25%) in the São Francisco Valley, Bahia. Produced via the Charmat method with brief lees contact, it brings extra texture and creaminess while staying bright and aromatic.
The wine won a Gold Medal at the Brazilian Sparkling Wine Contest 2025. On the table, go for a mix of canapés, such as salmon or tuna pâté toasts, mini tomato-and-basil bruschettas, brie or camembert with apricot or red-berry jam, plus cubes of semi-cured cheese or gruyère.

Italian white with rustic potatoes and cheese
If your group prefers warm, shareable snacks, choose Memoro Bianco from Italy’s Tenute Piccini. Created as a tribute to Italy’s unification, it blends four grapes from four regions and vintages: Pecorino from Marche, Viognier from Sicily, Chardonnay from Trentino, and Vermentino from Tuscany.
It earned 95 points from Luca Maroni and a Bronze Medal at IWSC 2018. With balance, freshness, and notes of white and yellow fruits alongside tropical, floral, and herbal tones, it pairs well with soft cheeses and some semi-cured styles such as minas and canastra.
In the kitchen, serve rustic potatoes topped with a mix of melted cheeses—an easy crowd-pleaser during the show.

Spanish rosé with Japanese delivery
If you’re ordering sushi, sashimi, tempura, and temaki, rosé is a reliable match. The pick is Esteban Martín D.O. Cariñena Rosado 2024, a Spanish rosé made mostly from Garnacha.
Produced from a Garnacha blend sourced from 20- to 65-year-old vineyards, it’s described as delicate, aromatic, and highly refreshing. The label won a Gold Medal at the 2025 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

Spanish red with calabresa pizza
For a laid-back watch party, pizza is always a win—especially calabresa and mozzarella. To match it, the suggestion is Félix Solís Mucho Más, a Spanish red with generous fruit, medium and soft tannins, and a subtle touch of residual sugar on the finish.
According to the recommendation, the wine helps balance calabresa’s heat and refreshes the palate. It is a blend of old-vine Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Syrah from different Spanish regions, crafted for balance and intensity.
Among its awards, it took gold medals in 2023 at Vinalies Internationales, Berliner Wine Trophy, and Frankfurt International Trophy, plus gold in 2022 at Berliner Wine Trophy, Gilbert & Gaillard, and AWC Vienna.

Chilean red with a charcuterie board
For a more classic pairing setup, Casas Del Toqui Gran Toqui D.O. Cachapoal Valley Syrah 2022 stands out. It’s produced by boutique winery Casas del Toqui, with vineyards in Alto Totihue in Chile’s D.O. Valle del Cachapoal, focused on high-quality wines.
Described as bold yet silky, the Syrah comes from selected grapes with limited production. Long macerations aim for deeper extraction and complexity, and around 80% of the wine aged in 225-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. The label received 93 points from Descorchados.
To serve, assemble a board with cold cuts, cheeses, and charcuterie—easy to share while the show is on.
