Brazilian actress arrives in the US with a bold new look created by TRUSS for her next role, standing alongside Gabriel Leone at cinema’s biggest night.
Actress Alice Carvalho turned heads upon arriving in the United States with a dramatic new look. The transformation signals a pivotal moment in her career: preparing to embody her next cinematic character.
Leaving behind her highlighted locks, Alice unveiled “Absolute Darkness” — a deep, luminous brunette shade developed exclusively for her by TRUSS Professional, the haircare brand from Grupo Boticário. The color transformation was led by brand ambassador Everton Müller, with styling by TRUSS Expert Leo Barroso.
The technical challenge behind the change
The biggest technical hurdle was neutralizing her previous highlights without damaging her naturally curly hair. TRUSS addressed this with a deep reconstruction protocol centered on the Uso Obrigatório line — the brand’s hero product — which maintained shine and softness throughout the chemical process.
Going back to dark brown, which is close to my natural base, is a way of reconnecting with who I am and the story I’m about to tell. It was essential for me that this change came with healthy hair — especially because my hair is curly and more sensitive to chemical processes, and TRUSS gives me that confidence. — Alice Carvalho
Brazil’s moment on the world stage
The new look also marks Alice’s role in the Absolute Cinema campaign. Alongside actor Gabriel Leone — whose look for the same project was also crafted by TRUSS — she represents the strength of Brazilian cinema in Los Angeles. The film in which both star is competing in the prestigious Best List category.
When asked about the weight of a potential win, Alice spoke with striking clarity about what it would mean.
It will represent a very powerful collective validation. Not just of the film, but of our cinema’s ability to speak to the world without losing its identity. I find it deeply moving when a work holds onto its cultural essence and still achieves global recognition. For me personally, it will confirm that it’s possible to dream big while staying true to our roots — that we don’t need to soften our identity to be universal. And it will also be an emotional milestone, because it will symbolize years of quiet dedication that the audience doesn’t always see. — Alice Carvalho
