Backstage at Carnival 2026, muses share bioimpedance, lymphatic drainage and peels to shine at Rio’s Sapucaí and São Paulo’s Anhembi.
Carnival 2026 muses: the countdown starts months ahead
As Anhembi in São Paulo and Rio’s Marquês de Sapucaí gear up for parade season, the spotlight also turns to the women who bring extra energy to the runway: the muses. Their prep often runs from six months to a full year.
The goal is a camera-ready “glow-up” built through training, nutrition and a clinic routine designed to reduce puffiness and boost skin radiance.
Layza Rebeca’s routine is driven by bioimpedance
Layza Rebeca, 30, a muse from Estação Primeira de Mangueira, says she follows a strict nutrition plan and strength training \(6\) days a week. Her aesthetic plan begins with bioimpedance, a test used to assess body composition, including fat levels, fluid retention and lean mass.
“From the bioimpedance test, we move forward with a personalized protocol.”
Her protocol includes lymphatic drainage, body-sculpting massage, “quantum” electrotherapy and sessions on a vibration platform. She says she intensifies the aesthetic and gym focus in the second half of the year, alongside sports nutrition follow-up.
Why lymphatic drainage became a go-to
Jéssica Magalhães, an aesthetic biomedicine specialist with \(10\) years in the field, highlights drainage as key for stimulating the lymphatic system, improving circulation and helping reduce fluid retention and swelling.
She says that effect can leave skin looking more even and hydrated, especially when combined with other body-focused techniques used in pre-Carnival plans.
Massage, electrotherapy and vibration platform—together
In Magalhães’ approach, body-sculpting massage supports body contour and the look of cellulite. Electrotherapy supports muscle activation and circulation, while the vibration platform targets strength, definition and a metabolic stimulus designed to last longer.
The season’s most requested aesthetic procedures
Beyond body treatments, demand rises for botulinum toxin and collagen biostimulators, used to soften expression lines and encourage firmness. A peel also ranks high for improving texture and luminosity, aiming for that high-impact glow on camera.
Layza also mentions the “Russian current” technique in her routine. Magalhães says it supports muscle toning for the intensity of rehearsals and parade time, which can run \(70\) to \(80\) uninterrupted minutes.
Training, diet and the parade-day endurance test
Raised in Complexo do Lins in Rio’s North Zone, Layza has been with Mangueira for \(17\) years. She says she tightens her diet starting in November, prioritizing protein and whey supplementation. In the gym, strength remains central—and she jokes she’s not a cardio fan, saving it for rehearsals two to three times a week.
For her, Carnival is more than a season: it’s culture carried since childhood, plus travel opportunities with the school, with samba at the center of her life.
