Once often hidden under foundation and concealer, freckles have become symbols of freshness, youth and authenticity. Inspired by the “sun kissed” look, they returned to runways and social media, adding a natural and playful touch to makeup.

With simple techniques, it is possible to recreate the effect at home. Expert Newton Batista, from Walter’s Coiffeur, shares essential tips to achieve light, natural and realistic fake freckles. “The secret is respecting the natural shape of the face and varying the size and intensity of the dots,” he explains.

1. Use a freckle pen

Freckle pens are practical and deliver a natural finish. Newton recommends applying with a light hand, without a fixed pattern, focusing on areas naturally exposed to the sun, such as the nose and cheeks. Tapping gently with fingers or a damp sponge helps blend the pigment.

2. Eyebrow pencil as an ally

Eyebrow pencils offer control and precision. “Choose fine-tip and dry-textured pencils to create small, irregular freckles,” says the expert. He advises selecting shades that match the hair and allowing slight variations between each dot for a natural look.

3. Waterproof eyeliner for long wear

Waterproof brown eyeliner ensures durability. Newton suggests testing on the back of the hand to control pigmentation. After applying, let it dry fully and press gently with fingers to soften the edges.

4. Bronzer for a sun-kissed effect

To integrate the freckles into the complexion, using bronzer or peach-toned blush over the applied spots reinforces the natural sun-kissed finish.

5. Setting spray for lasting results

For all-day wear, setting spray is essential. It should be applied from 20 to 30 centimeters away in circular motions to seal the makeup without smudging.

6. Try temporary techniques

Semi-permanent options, such as diluted henna, have also become popular. “Henna can last two to four days depending on skin type and cleansing routine,” notes Newton, suggesting it for those who want a ready-made look upon waking.

7. Finish with naturality

Regardless of the method, naturality is key. The expert emphasizes avoiding straight lines and symmetrical spacing while also recommending avoiding touching the face throughout the day.
