The Recife Expo Center lights up dark blue throughout March to raise awareness about colorectal cancer, one of the most common cancers in Brazil.
For the entire month of March, the Recife Expo Center joins the Dark Blue March campaign, dedicated to raising awareness about colorectal cancer. The special illumination on the convention center’s facade turns the building into a visible symbol of commitment to public health.
Why colorectal cancer demands attention
Colorectal cancer ranks among the most prevalent cancers in Brazil and worldwide. The encouraging reality is that early detection dramatically improves treatment and survival outcomes. Colonoscopy remains the gold-standard screening tool, recommended for adults starting at age 45 or earlier based on medical guidance.
Key prevention strategies include a fiber-rich diet, regular physical activity, healthy weight management, and reducing tobacco and alcohol consumption. These lifestyle habits can make a meaningful difference in lowering the risk of the disease.
A commitment that goes beyond the lights
Information is one of the most powerful prevention tools. By lighting the Recife Expo Center in dark blue, we aim to amplify visibility for a vital campaign and reinforce our commitment to promoting health. Tatiana Menezes, Director of Recife Expo Center
Part of the Porto Novo Recife Complex, which includes a marina, hotel, and restaurants, the Recife Expo Center blends modern infrastructure with social responsibility. The venue supports public health campaigns throughout the year, establishing itself as a benchmark in the events industry.
A hub built for Brazil’s medical capital of the Northeast
Featuring ten multifunctional rooms with cutting-edge technology, an auditorium for 1,500 people, and an integrated pavilion of 4,100 m², the convention center hosts events of all scales, including medical congresses and health conferences. Recife is Brazil’s second-largest medical hub, and the Recife Expo Center plays a key role in strengthening that reputation.
The thematic lighting remains active throughout March, underlining the importance of preventive healthcare and the role institutions can play in amplifying life-saving public campaigns.
