1Kilo hosts free cultural event in São Gonçalo

1Kilo offers free event in São Gonçalo with workshops, rap battles, and live shows open to the public.

The 1Kilo Label will host a free cultural event called “Ouro do Bairro: The New Generation of São Gonçalo and Niterói” this Saturday, December 6, at the Porto da Pedra Arena in São Gonçalo (RJ). Open to the public, the program includes cultural workshops, artistic activities, and live performances for people of all ages.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees can join freestyle rap, breakdance, and graffiti workshops, with prizes for the best participants. The highlight of the day is the Kids Rap Battle, where children learn the basics of improvisation. Two finalists will perform on stage alongside 1Kilo’s MCs, with beats from DJ Grego.

The event concludes at 8 p.m. with a special pocket show by 1Kilo artists and emerging talents from São Gonçalo and Niterói. The setlist features hits such as “Deixe-Me Ir” and “Duro Igual Concreto”, plus exclusive new tracks.

This initiative underscores 1Kilo’s social mission to promote local talents and invest in community-based culture. Most of its artists come from Niterói and São Gonçalo, known as important musical hubs and the birthplace of major Brazilian rap names.

The event is supported by the Porto da Pedra Samba School, which offered the venue. “Porto da Pedra has always seen its arena as more than a carnival space. Hosting 1Kilo for this project means uniting two movements that value community, youth, and creativity,” said Fabrício Montibelo, president of the school.
