Award-winning singer and actress Alessandra Verney presents “unpluGAGA,” an acoustic tribute to Lady Gaga, on January 28 at 8pm at Teatro Claro MAIS RJ, in Copacabana. The concept is to spotlight Gaga’s songwriting through arrangements that emphasize interpretation and keep the songs as the main characters.
What changes when Gaga goes acoustic
Songs such as “Bad Romance,” “Million Reasons,” and “Paparazzi” are revisited in versions designed to highlight the poetic and emotional power of Gaga’s work. By dialing down the arena-scale production, the show brings melody and lyrics closer—carried by the strength and nuance of a female voice.
Verney is joined by a trio that shapes the acoustic palette: André Valle (acoustic guitar), Lancaster Lopes (bass), and Marcelo Vig (drums and effects). The result aims for a visceral, intimate listening experience, while preserving the theatrical presence that defines Verney’s stage career.

Verney says she has wanted to build a Lady Gaga songbook show for years, long before knowing the pop icon would come to Rio. She chose an acoustic approach to prioritize interpretation and the core of the compositions, citing Gaga’s visceral energy and vocal power as major inspirations.

Who is Alessandra Verney
Verney is a singer and actress with more than 25 years in the arts, strongly rooted in musical theatre. She debuted with the Möeller & Botelho duo and performed in productions such as “Cole Porter – ele nunca disse que me amava,” “7 – O Musical,” “Beatles num céu de diamantes,” and “The Sound of Music” (“A Noviça Rebelde”).
With Miguel Falabella, she appeared in the musical “Hello, Dolly!” (“Alô Dolly”) and in comedies like “O Que o Mordomo Viu” (Aplauso Brasil Award for Best Supporting Actress) and “A Mentira,” as well as the TV series “Sexo e as Negas.” She starred in “Kiss Me Kate – O Beijo da Megera,” won the Cesgranrio Award for Best Actress in a Musical, and earned a Shell Award nomination.
On TV, she acted in telenovelas including “Rock Story” and “Verão 90.” In film, she appeared in “Apolônio Brasil” and recently shot three features: “Querido Mundo,” “A Banda,” and “Senhoras.” She also develops solo music and is recording her first album, produced by André Moraes.
