The drummer and composer captures the energy of his live performance during the premiere of his film “A Escritora,” which received international recognition. The show, recorded in April 2025, turned the cinema into a stage, merging sound and image into a unique artistic expression.

Between drums and film

With a career that includes collaborations with Hermeto Pascoal, Ivan Lins, and the original lineup of Heróis da Resistência, Alfredo enjoys a creative peak. After winning awards in Cannes and New York with his short films “Saudade” and “A Escritora,” he now demonstrates his mastery and versatility once again in “AO VIVO.”

A powerful setlist

Joined by Widor Santiago (sax), Yuval Ben Lior (guitar), Berval Moraes (bass), and Renan Francioni (keyboards), Alfredo delivers electrifying versions of Jazz Fusion classics like “Some Skunk Funk” and “Red Baron.” The group’s take on “A Remark You Made” adds a cinematic emotional depth that bridges music and film.

The show’s climax, “Quadrant 4” by Billy Cobham, features a breathtaking drum solo that reaffirms Alfredo Dias Gomes as one of Brazil’s great jazz masters.
