Rock in Rio 2026 sets a high-voltage Rock Day

September 5 is shaping up as one of the festival’s most intense bills, pairing two of modern rock’s most influential names on the main stage. The idea is simple: celebrate the genre’s history while pushing it forward.

After a widely talked-about 2024 performance, Avenged Sevenfold returns to close the night as the official headliner. Fans can expect a bigger, sharper-scale production to match the slot.

Earlier, Bring Me The Horizon makes its Rock in Rio debut on Palco Mundo. The moment carries extra weight thanks to the band’s close ties to Brazil, amplified by frontman Oliver Sykes, who lives in the country and has publicly shared his connection to Brazilian culture.

On Sep 5, Rock in Rio’s main stage brings two heavy lanes together: reinvention, identity, and global reach—without sanding off the edges.

Rock in Rio 2026: Avenged Sevenfold’s evolution

Avenged Sevenfold has helped define today’s hard rock DNA, while also standing out for its tech-forward approach, fan-focused ticketing models, and large-scale creative staging. That mix has become part of the band’s signature.

Featuring M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance, Johnny Christ, and Brooks Wackerman, the group has logged billions of streams, sold over twelve million records worldwide, and landed two consecutive No. \(1\) albums on the Billboard 200. It has also earned multiple rock chart-topping singles.

City of Evil (2005) was recognized by Kerrang! among the 50 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time and by Rolling Stone among the 100 Greatest. The record also brought the band the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist.

Later releases—Avenged Sevenfold, Nightmare, and Hail to the King—hit the top of the charts upon release and earned RIAA platinum certifications. The Stage (2016) examined humanity’s collision with technology, while Life is But a Dream… (2023) leaned into surrealism and self-reflection.

Most recently, the band released “Magic” (2025) in partnership with the video game Call of Duty, signaling what it describes as its boldest era yet in metal.

Rock in Rio 2026: Bring Me The Horizon’s first time

BRIT Awards and Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum, and with more than five million albums sold, Bring Me The Horizon arrives at Rock in Rio after selling out a show in São Paulo on its most recent Brazil run. The band is widely cited as one of the most successful and innovative forces in modern rock.

Formed in 2004, the UK group—Oliver Sykes with Lee Malia (guitar), Matt Kean (bass), and Matt Nicholls (drums)—started in deathcore and metalcore, then expanded into alternative metal, alternative rock, electronic, and pop. That evolution helped it break genre boundaries and grow a diverse global audience.

Along the way, the band built a reputation for cross-scene collaborations and consistent industry recognition. Now, its Palco Mundo debut is positioned as one of the edition’s most anticipated moments.

Rock in Rio 2026 adds new stage design and The Flight

Rock in Rio 2026 takes place at Cidade do Rock in Rio’s Parque Olímpico on September 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11, 12, 13, 2026. Previously announced acts include Elton John, Stray Kids, Maroon 5, Demi Lovato, Gilberto Gil, Jamiroquai, Mumford & Sons, and João Gomes with Orquestra Brasileira.

This year also brings major upgrades to Palco Mundo: an all-new set design and, for the first time, a front structure covered by 2,400 m² of ultra-high-definition LED panels—turning the façade into one massive visual canvas.

Another fan-favorite returns with The Flight, the festival’s aerial spectacle. Organizers promise synchronized acrobatics, a dedicated soundtrack, and 756 daytime fireworks shots.

Fans who missed out on the Rock in Rio Card will get another chance, with the official sale scheduled for 2026. The date will be announced soon.
