Rodrigo Campello and Maíra Knox turn Banksy’s provocative street art into sound. “Peças de Uma Exposição – Vol. 3” drops on all platforms March 30.
Street Art Reimagined as Sound
Brazilian label Luna Music releases the third volume of “Peças de Uma Exposição” (Pieces of an Exhibition), a series conceived by composer Rodrigo Campello. This time, the creative lens zooms in on the urban, political, and ironic world of British street artist Banksy — guided by the distinct voice of DJ, composer, and chef Maíra Knox. The EP arrives on all streaming platforms on Monday, March 30, 2026, distributed by Labidad Produções.
After exploring Brazilian modernism in Volume 1 and Celtic and English Renaissance aesthetics in Volume 2, Campello now turns his artistic inquiry to the social contradictions of the 2010s and 2020s. The starting point was Knox’s writing — built like collage, assembling impressions and thoughts that echo shared human experience.
“The Dadaist collage of Maíra’s texts takes me straight to the work and stance of this fantastic, contemporary artist, who plays with his own identity (who is Banksy?) and with the eternal struggle between the old, the past, and the new. But, as the Poet said, the new always comes.” — Rodrigo Campello
Three Tracks, Three Portraits of Now
The EP features three co-written compositions, each opening a different window onto the present.
Coisa Fútil (Futile Thing)
The opener begins with the sound of a plastic toy gun and samples from popular radio broadcasts, building into an atmosphere rooted in Rio’s funk carioca. The theme is both central and ironic: the struggles of genuine connection in a world dominated by superficiality, social media, and manufactured images. Glamour is stripped down to its hollow core.
Pra Que (What For)
The tone shifts — more direct, more reflective. The second track questions a world built on inequality, consumption, violence, and alienation. Is there a way out of a world fueled by oil, hunger, deception, and corruption? The song offers a critical pause and raises far more questions than it answers.
Désirs Incertains (Uncertain Desires)
Closing the EP, this French-language track navigates emotional ambiguity between rejection and desire. As a conceptual gesture, Campello builds the harmonic foundation on an inversion of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Je t’aime… moi non plus”, reconstructing its sonic atmosphere from a new angle. Homage and deconstruction stand side by side.
The EP’s sound is primarily electronic but deeply hybrid, weaving in references to funk carioca, the literature of Charles Bukowski, and French rock from the 1960s, alongside radio samples and toy sound effects. The artwork was designed by Alexandre Pernan.
