The Barão Vermelho Encontro tour has just announced four new Brazilian dates. After confirming shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, producer 30e — Brazil’s largest live entertainment company — is taking the reunion to Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Curitiba, and Belo Horizonte. The shows are presented by Itaú Live, the music platform of Itaú Unibanco.

The original lineup back together

The stage will feature Roberto Frejat (guitar and vocals), Guto Goffi (drums), Mauricio Barros (keyboards), and Dé Palmeira (bass) — the founding quartet that debuted nationally in 1982 and helped shape Brazilian rock. Guitarist Fernando Magalhães, who joined the band in 1985, will appear as a special guest.

Mauricio Barros and Guto Goffi are pausing their current Barão tour, “Do Tamanho da Vida,” to take part in the project. The excitement is palpable. “It’s special to do this series of shows with our friends Dé and Frejat. It will feel like the early days, the first rehearsals, back at my house — even before Cazuza joined. Even though he won’t be on stage, he’ll be well represented through his lyrics and songs,” says Mauricio Barros.

“This reunion with the original lineup brings back so many memories of 1982, when we debuted nationally. The prodigal sons return home — and I’ll admit that Cazuza not being with us still hits hard. We’re doing this for ourselves and for everyone.” — Guto Goffi, 44 years with Barão Vermelho

Frejat marks 44 years on stage

For Roberto Frejat, this tour carries a deeper meaning. “I’m marking 44 years of my career and have been planning projects to celebrate. I simply can’t mark this milestone without going back to Barão Vermelho — where it all began. This reunion tour has a very special flavor and is the starting point for other adventures,” he says. Frejat will also celebrate his career with the solo project Quatro Décadas e Um Pouco Mais.

Dé Palmeira echoes the sentiment. “I consider this project a gift from life. Getting back on stage with Frejat, Mauricio Barros, and Guto Goffi to celebrate an encounter that happened over forty years ago and changed our lives forever is an immense joy. The audience can expect a show just like Barão always delivered — but this time, in a very special way,” says Dé Palmeira.

A setlist spanning every era

The setlist will cover the band’s entire history. Confirmed anthems include Todo Amor Que Houver Nessa Vida, Bete Balanço, Pro Dia Nascer Feliz, Por Você, Maior Abandonado, Puro Êxtase, and Codinome Beija-Flor. The Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo shows will also feature the special participation of Ney Matogrosso.

The Encontro label and what to expect

The project is part of the Encontro label, created by 30e. The initiative launched with the Titãs Encontro reunion, which brought together Arnaldo Antunes, Branco Mello, Charles Gavin, Nando Reis, Paulo Miklos, Sérgio Britto, and Tony Bellotto in a full-scale production featuring giant screens, immersive stage design, and state-of-the-art lighting. “We’re certain that Barão Vermelho Encontro will repeat the historic success of Titãs Encontro. It’s the chance to see again what this band is like live,” says Alexandre Wesley, VP of Global Touring at 30e.
