Brazilian pagode icon Belo performs “Greatest Hits on the Floor” at Qualistage on March 21, with samba circle, DJs, and five hours of non-stop party.
One of Brazil’s most beloved artists, Belo brings his project “Os Maiores Sucessos na Pista” (Greatest Hits on the Floor) to Qualistage, in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. The show kicks off at 10 PM on March 21, with doors opening at 8 PM — and the party is expected to last well over five hours, blending live samba, DJ sets, and the energy of an authentic Rio pagode night.
Three decades of hits and millions of fans
Belo has sold more than 7 million records throughout his career — a mix of studio albums and live CDs and DVDs. He currently draws over 5.5 million monthly listeners on digital streaming platforms, making him one of the most-streamed Brazilian pagode artists in the world.
His journey began with the cavaquinho (a small Brazilian string instrument) before he joined the group Soweto in 1993, at the invitation of friend Robson Buiú. With the band, he recorded three albums and performed across Brazil and abroad.
His solo discography includes landmark albums like Belo Ao Vivo (2001), Valeu Esperar (2002), Seu Fã (2004), 100% Belo (2007) and Pra Ver o Sol Brilhar (2008), the latter featuring collaborations with Alcione, Negra Li, Perlla, Mano Brown, Racionais MC’s, and Flávia Santana.
Grupo Puro Acaso opens the night
Opening the evening is Grupo Puro Acaso, a trio formed by Maurício Poeta, Vitinho, and Carlinhos. The group was born in the Ladeira dos Tabajaras community in Rio de Janeiro, where they started out singing pagode on weekends at Tia Angelina’s food trailer — a beloved local gathering spot.
Their big break came when they were invited by samba school G.R.E.S. Unidos da Villa Rica to open a show for Grupo Pique Novo. Since then, they have shared the stage with Dudu Nobre, Molejo, Sorriso Maroto, Xande de Pilares, and Mumuzinho, and performed at the New Year’s Eve show on Flamengo Beach in Rio de Janeiro for a crowd of approximately 80,000 people.
With a setlist mixing original songs, pagode, samba, and current hits, Grupo Puro Acaso promises a light, danceable, and high-energy performance.
