The Blue Note Rio welcomes a refined blend of bossa nova, blues and pop this week. Pianist and researcher Adriano Grineberg presents “Uma Ode a Dorival Caymmi,” American musician Mark Lambert pays tribute to Simply Red and Christopher Cross, and acclaimed singer-songwriter Celso Fonseca closes the week with “Tudo é Bossa.”

Adriano Grineberg honors Caymmi

On Thursday, Adriano Grineberg performs “Uma Ode a Dorival Caymmi,” a live version of his recent album. The show reimagines Caymmi’s coastal universe through Grineberg’s blues-infused style and global influences. “Caymmi spoke of life with the gentleness of someone who listens to the wind,” he reflects.

Mark Lambert revives pop classics

On Friday, Mark Lambert celebrates Simply Red’s 40th anniversary in a vibrant tribute filled with personal arrangements and dynamic energy, also featuring songs by Christopher Cross. Expect a night of nostalgia and irresistible grooves.

Celso Fonseca closes with “Tudo é Bossa”

On Saturday, at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Celso Fonseca takes the stage with “Tudo é Bossa.” The artist revisits collaborations with Ronaldo Bastos such as “Sorte” and “Slow Motion Bossa Nova,” alongside inventive renditions of Brazilian hits blending jazz, pop and bossa nova.
