Shot in São Paulo, “Xê Dama” merges Calema’s African roots and Lauana Prado’s Brazilian energy in a vibrant, cross-continental collaboration.
Music knows no borders — that’s the spirit behind “Xê Dama”, the new single bringing together São Tomé’s duo Calema and Brazilian singer Lauana Prado. Set to be released soon by Universal Music Brasil, the track celebrates cultural connection and diversity through sound.
Co-written by the artists, the song fuses Brazilian and African rhythms, featuring the sensual dance beat of tarraxinha. The title “Xê” — a Creole expression of admiration and attraction — captures the energy and charisma of the track.
Produced by Calema and Brazilian producer Gabriel Pascoal, “Xê Dama” delivers a warm, danceable sound that perfectly embodies the blend of cultures it represents.
A visual celebration of Afro-Latin energy
Directed by Phill Mendonça, the music video was filmed in São Paulo on March 5. It immerses viewers in a colorful and sensual atmosphere inspired by Afro-Latin parties, blending dance, light, and rhythm into a sensory celebration of connection.
For Calema, “Xê Dama” is about encounters — between continents, rhythms, and hearts. “It’s a tribute to where we come from and what brings us together,” the duo shared, reinforcing their role as cultural bridges in modern lusophone music.
