Samba artist Mosquito is the featured attraction of Casa Light this Thursday, November 20. After gathering around 3,000 people and 28 artists in its first edition — including Chico César and Hamilton de Holanda — the second season has begun at Teatro Laura Alvim with the same intimate format, welcoming about 150 people per show. Performances take place on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., with tickets available on Funarj’s website or at the theater box office for R$10 (full) and R$5 (half-price).

From November to January, curator Rafaello Ramundo presents artists who explore diverse rhythms and stories. The reopening took place on November 13 with the sound of Josiel Konrad. The lineup continues with Mosquito (11/20), Laila Garin (11/27), Laura Simões (12/04) and Paulinho Moska (12/18). The 2026 program features Latin Grammy winners Zé Ibarra (01/08) and Dora Morelenbaum (01/15), as well as a performance by Gustavo Pereira (01/22).

According to Light, the festival aims to strengthen support for cultural initiatives and further value local heritage.

“We decided to give back to Rio what it offers best: music, art and encounters. Casa Light is a gift to the city, a way to illuminate not only homes but also the culture and talent of our local artists. The success of the first season showed how powerful this connection with the public is and inspires us to keep valuing the cultural scene with an even more special new edition.”

Held at Teatro Laura Alvim in Ipanema, the festival offers a close and immersive experience between audience and artists. For curator Rafaello Ramundo, the project celebrates Brazilian music by connecting generations and styles.

“Casa Light was created to unite tradition and innovation, bringing the audience closer to great masters of our music while opening space for talents who are writing the next chapters of this story. The success of the previous edition shows how Rio and its people feel embraced by initiatives like this. I am certain it will be no different now.”

The initiative is sponsored by Light through the State Culture Incentive Law (ICMS), in partnership with the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy of Rio de Janeiro.
