Percussionist, singer, and songwriter Esdras Bedai makes his debut at Acaso Cultural in Botafogo with the brand-new show “Trovão do Mangue: Da Lama ao Caos – Tribute to Pernambuco”. The performance takes place on Friday, April 10, at 8 PM, offering a full immersion into the visceral sound of the Manguebeat Movement.

From the swamp to Rio’s stage

Born in Recife in the 1990s, Manguebeat transformed Brazilian music by fusing tradition and modernity — maracatu and rock, northeastern folk culture and global urban language. Bedai revisits that legacy by reinventing roots like maracatu, coco, ciranda, and afoxé in dialogue with rock, funk, dub, MPB, and experimental music.

Known for his collaborations with guitarist Armandinho — the hits “Desenho de Deus”, “Semente”, and “Analua” have millions of streams — Bedai brings deep research into traditional rhythms and contemporary sounds. Throughout the show, percussion takes center stage, bridging ancestral heritage, urban poetry, and dense grooves.

“Trovão do Mangue” is at once a tribute, a manifesto, and a collective celebration of popular culture in constant transformation.
