The Rio de Janeiro rapper kicks off 2026 by leaning into a more conscious rap spirit—one built around friendship, loyalty, and everyday life. “Rap da Lealdade” arrived on all digital platforms on January 14 and will appear on an upcoming EP paying tribute to the origins of Rio’s rap scene, due later this year.

Voltmix, Miami Bass, and the baile blueprint

The track pulls its aesthetic from Rio’s 1990s baile era and is structured around the Voltmix beat, a foundation tied to defining local classics that helped shape the city’s rap identity. Among the reference points cited in the release are “Nosso Sonho” by Claudinho & Buchecha and “Rap da Felicidade” by Cidinho & Doca—songs whose atmosphere also influenced Ret.

By bringing that rhythmic language into today’s urban music landscape, the single reinforces a broader return to a warmer, more communal way of connecting—back to the time when sound-system crews set the pace and dance floors in Rio felt like a social meeting point.

Loyalty as the core theme

In lines such as “meu parceiro, oh meu Deus, nem meus defeitos fez tu me abandonar/ armas e rosas tão na tua escolta/ a vida é mais do que nós posta”, Ret makes his message plain: value the friends who stay, especially during hard seasons, and keep gratitude at the center.

“This is a song of gratitude. A thank you to a great friend, to God, and to the architects of Rio rap who shaped our culture and still strongly influence our lives,” says Filipe Ret.

Viral preview and a career peak

A preview of “Rap da Lealdade” had already circulated on Ret’s social channels and, according to the release, surpassed 7.5 million plays across Instagram and TikTok uses, mentions, and fan-made posts. The snippet spread organically as people used it to talk about friendship, loyalty, and gratitude—the track’s main emotional payload.

The drop also highlights Ret’s current momentum. With over 15 years in the game, he is presented as Brazil’s most-listened rap and trap artist, with more than 9.5 million monthly Spotify listeners and a global audience topping 25.5 million followers across his official platforms.

He has earned 135 gold, platinum, and diamond certifications across singles and albums. His nine-album catalog includes “Nume Epílogo” (2025), and he has reportedly held the #1 spot on Spotify Brazil within rap for more than 150 consecutive days—described as a genre-first milestone.
