Learn Shakira’s iconic Waka Waka choreography for free on Copacabana beachfront on April 19 and 26, led by professional choreographers.
The famous Copacabana boardwalk is about to become an open-air dance floor. The organizers of Todo Mundo no Rio are inviting everyone to two free Waka Waka dance masterclasses ahead of Shakira’s highly anticipated concert in Rio de Janeiro. The classes take place on Sundays, April 19 and 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, on the waterfront in front of the iconic Copacabana Palace hotel — right next to where the main stage is already being assembled.
Meet the instructors
On April 19, the class will be led by choreographer Aline Maia, a well-known figure in Brazil’s entertainment scene who has worked with major artists including Anitta. On April 26, dance teacher Esther Lobo and dancer Christian Bazano will take the stage to guide participants through the moves.
The location is no coincidence. The classes will take place steps away from the main stage construction, letting attendees feel the energy building for the big night. Shakira herself refers to Copacabana Beach as the “altar of the planet.”
Free concert on May 2
Shakira’s free concert takes place on May 2 at Copacabana Beach and will be broadcast live on TV Globo, Multishow, and Globoplay, the event’s official media partners.
