Award-winning flutist releases her first solo EP “Todas as Coisas Que Eu Sou” at Little Club in Copacabana, marking three decades of Brazilian music.
After thirty years as an instrumentalist, Gabriela Koatz is stepping into the spotlight in a new way. On April 22, the Rio de Janeiro-based flutist, singer, and composer launches her first solo EP, Todas as Coisas Que Eu Sou (“All the Things That I Am”), with a live show at the Little Club in Copacabana. The two-hour performance doubles as a musical self-portrait — and a long-awaited debut as a lead vocalist.
A voice rising from the flute
Gabriela has spent decades moving fluidly between choro circles, forró dances, chamber music concerts, and contemporary ensembles. Her reputation as an instrumentalist is firmly established. Now, for the first time, her voice takes center stage. The EP blends bossa nova, MPB, and jazz standards with original compositions and flute solo pieces.
The setlist draws from the work of Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo, Joyce Moreno, Léa Freire, Hermeto Pascoal, Pixinguinha, Piazzolla, and Camargo Guarnieri — composers that map the full breadth of Brazilian and Latin American music.
A tribute woven into the setlist
The show also carries a deeply personal moment: a posthumous tribute to conductor and teacher Valéria Mendonça, a formative presence in Gabriela’s musical journey. The homage gives the evening an emotional weight that goes beyond celebration.
A career built across stages and genres
Trained in transverse flute and holding a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música, Gabriela has performed at Rio’s most prestigious venues — including Sala Cecília Meirelles, CCBB, Rádio MEC, and Circo Voador. She has shared stages with Kiko Horta, Marcelo Caldi, Geraldo Azevedo, Carlos Malta, Gabriel Grossi, Gabi Buarque, and Carol Panesi, and was part of the Orquestra Pro Arte and Itiberê Zwarg‘s Oficina da Música Universal.
Her career recognition began early: she took first place at the Rosa Mística Competition in Curitiba in 1999. In 2026, she will also represent Brazil at the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy in Italy — a reminder that her work resonates far beyond the Rio music scene.
Todas as Coisas Que Eu Sou is a musical self-portrait echoing Gabriela Koatz’s origins, encounters, and reinventions.
Backed by prominent Rio musicians, Gabriela leads a show where harmony, improvisation, and Brazilian rhythmic richness anchor every arrangement. Her background in music therapy adds a quiet layer of depth — a trained sensitivity that turns each song into an experience of its own.
