Greentea Peng and Ata Kak kick off Queremos! Festival’s new season at Circo Voador on April 10; tickets go on sale Jan 19 at noon.
Queremos! Festival has revealed the first names for its seventh edition, set to take over Rio de Janeiro across four dates and four different stages. The second weekend of shows starts on April 10 at Circo Voador, bringing Greentea Peng’s first-ever Brazil performance alongside Ata Kak.
Queremos! Festival 2026 begins rolling out the lineup
This announcement is only the start of Queremos! Festival’s 2026 program, which begins on April 4. Over the next few weeks, the festival will unveil more venues and artists, doubling down on its reputation for genre-spanning bookings and one-of-a-kind live experiences.
Hosting the night at Circo Voador underlines the festival’s mission: connect Brazilian audiences with boundary-pushing international acts. Tickets go on sale January 19 at 12 p.m. via Ticketmaster.
Greentea Peng brings “Tell Dem It’s Sunny” to Brazil
One of today’s most distinctive voices, UK artist Greentea Peng arrives in Brazil for the first time with songs from “Tell Dem It’s Sunny” (2025). The album also marks her debut run of South American shows, expanding her trademark blend of neo-soul, dub, jazz, and psychedelia.
Hailed by specialized critics as an artistic rebirth, the 14-track record explores identity, personal transformation, and self-connection. Tracks like “Bali Skit PT 1”, “Tardis (hardest)”, “One Foot”, “Stones Throw”, and “Green” highlight her range, moving between introspection, psychedelic soul, and sensory lyricism.
Production credits include Earbuds, Samo, Wu-Lu, Busy Twist, Nat Powers, and St. Francis Hotel, who also handled executive production. Onstage, the set promises an immersive, magnetic performance built on rich arrangements.
Ata Kak returns with new music—his first since 1994
Opening the bill, Ata Kak brings a singular story from Ghana’s music underground. His cult album “Obaa Sima” (1994) found global recognition years later after resurfacing online, celebrated for its hybrid aesthetic blending experimental electronics with hiplife in Twi. The mystery around his identity only grew until Yaw Atta-Owusu began touring major festivals such as Glastonbury, Sónar, and Pop Montreal.
Now, Ata Kak is set to premiere unreleased songs developed over recent years in studios in Kumasi, Ghana. The new material deepens his signature style with more complex arrangements, layered harmonies, acrobatic rap, trademark scats, dramatic beats, and even the Akan traditional harp.
Restless and multifaceted, Ata Kak is also a poet, writer, painter, and gardener—an artistic range that feeds the intensity of his live shows.
A platform for global live acts in Brazil
Queremos! Festival continues to position itself as a key platform for international shows in Brazil, with annual sponsorship from Heineken. “Our goal is to broaden the dialogue between global music and Brazilian audiences, offering unique, unforgettable experiences,” says Pedro Seiler, a Queremos! director.
Co-director Felipe Continentino adds that the festival’s curation remains committed to relevance and scene-building: “Each season we reinforce our commitment to bringing globally significant artists and strengthening Brazil’s music ecosystem.”
