Henry Freitas takes forró to the big screen with “Esse é Meu Time”, featured in Brazil’s version of “Um Cabra Bom de Bola”, out Feb. 12.
Forró breakout Henry Freitas has been announced on “Esse é Meu Time” (That’s My Squad), a song created for the Brazilian version of Sony Animation’s international feature “Um Cabra Bom de Bola”. The film opens nationwide in Brazil on February 12.
In the English-language original, the song appears in a scene performed by NBA star Stephen Curry, who also serves as a producer on the film. For Brazilian audiences, the track gets a local version with Henry Freitas—his first-ever contribution to a movie soundtrack.
Nordeste influence front and center
Born in Pernambuco, raised in rural Paraíba, and with his career built in Rio Grande do Norte, Henry adds another layer of Brazil’s Northeast culture to the release. Beyond the localized title, the Brazilian dub also leans into regional references, strengthening the movie’s local identity.
Henry Freitas is known for hits like “Ímã de Problema”, “Tando” (which reached No. 1 on Spotify), “Tem Café”, “Me Bloqueia”, “Ritmo da Sanfoninha”, “Onde Era Flor”, and “Superfantasticamente”. He has surpassed 1 billion streams across platforms and has recorded with artists including Pedro Sampaio, Diego & Victor Hugo, Menos É Mais, João Gomes, Leo Foguete, Kadu Martins, Matheus Fernandes, Nattanzinho Lima, and Zé Vaqueiro.
Brazilian voice cast highlights
The Brazilian version features Rafael Sadovski as the voice of lead character Zeca Brito. The cast also includes Priscila Amorim as the panther Jaque Fonseca, plus special appearances by basketball legend Hortência, journalist and host Fred Bruno, and digital creator Jukanalha.
What the story is about
Directed by Tyree Dillihay and co-directed by Adam Rosette, “Um Cabra Bom de Bola” follows Zeca Brito, a small, big-dreaming goat who lands a once-in-a-lifetime shot to play berrobol—an intense, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the world’s fastest and fiercest animals.
Zeca’s arrival doesn’t sit well with the team. Still, he’s determined to shake up the game and prove that being small doesn’t mean playing small.
