Hugo Henrique re-releases “Mala” with a new version on Feb 13 and an official music video on Feb 14.
Hugo Henrique is preparing the re-release of one of the biggest hits of his career. The new version of “Mala” arrives on digital platforms this Thursday (13) at 9 p.m., while the official music video will be released on Friday (14), recorded in the city of Atibaia (SP).
Written and originally recorded when Hugo was only 11, the song marked the beginning of his journey in Brazilian country music. Since then, “Mala” has been reinterpreted by several major artists, including Nattanzinho Lima, Ana Castela, Lauana Prado and Matheus & Kauan.
“This song holds a very special place in my heart. I was just a kid when I wrote it, and even so it managed to touch so many people. Recording it again now, more mature and with my current voice, is very special,” says Hugo Henrique. “It is definitely one of the most important songs of my career and I have huge affection for it.”
The music video, directed by Matheus Rigola, was filmed in Atibaia (SP) and features a sensitive, cinematic narrative to express the emotion of the new version. “This re-recording deserved a special video. We wanted to capture the essence of the song in a simple way but with emotion in every detail,” he explains.
More than a decade after its creation, the artist revisits the success with new arrangements that preserve the original emotion. “I wanted to keep the essence that made this song go so far, but with the sound and truth I carry today. It’s a way of thanking everything that ‘Mala’ represented and still represents in my life,” he adds.
