João Caetano performs “Mil Voltas” on March 25 at Teatro Fashion Mall; part of the proceeds go to Retiro dos Artistas.
Brazilian singer-songwriter João Caetano will perform at Teatro Fashion Mall (Sala Rosamaria Murtinho) in Rio de Janeiro on March 25 at 8 p.m., presenting his latest album “Mil Voltas.” The concert marks his return to the city he has called home for forty years and celebrates his multifaceted artistic journey.
Released in 2025, “Mil Voltas” features 14 tracks — 13 originals and a new version of “O Tal 1” and “O Tal 2.” Arranged with Luiz Cláudio Ramos, Chico Buarque’s longtime musical director, the album includes guest musician Almir Sater and blends guarânia, samba, baião, and waltz, echoing the cycles of life and memory.
“Mil Voltas is both memory and journey. It is the countryside and the carousel,” wrote columnist Leo Aversa about the album.
On stage, Caetano will be joined by Luiz Cláudio Ramos (guitars and musical direction), João Castilho (guitar and vocals), Marcos Nimrichter (piano and accordion), Jurim Moreira (drums), and Rômulo Gomes (bass and vocals). Part of the proceeds will be donated to Retiro dos Artistas, a foundation supporting retired performers.
“We need to support this place that welcomes names like Flora Purim, Robertinho Silva, and Leny Andrade. It’s a way to give back,” says João.
A multifaceted journey
Between medicine, design, and music, João Caetano has crafted a singular career. Trained as a cardiologist, he chose to pursue music full-time in the 1990s. First discovered in the 1970s by the TV show Fantástico, his songs later appeared in telenovelas like “Pantanal” and “O Salvador da Pátria.”
As founder of Arquivo Contemporâneo, a leading Brazilian design studio, Caetano merges aesthetic vision with musical sensibility. “Mil Voltas” intertwines his artistic, emotional, and personal stories into one poetic collection.
