Uruguay’s most celebrated singer-songwriter, Jorge Drexler — winner of an Academy Award and 16 Latin Grammy Awards — returns to Brazil in May 2026 with the live debut of his new album “Taracá”. The tour stops in Curitiba, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Porto Alegre.

Released in March 2026, “Taracá” is Drexler’s fifteenth studio album. Over more than three decades, the artist has built a singular body of work defined by poetic depth, musical curiosity, and cross-cultural experimentation.

Candombe at the heart of the show

On stage, Drexler will be joined by seven musicians in a visually and sonically innovative production. Uruguayan candombe serves as the backbone of the set, weaving through both new songs and fan favorites from across his career.

One standout moment is “¿Qué será que es?” — a Spanish-language version of Gonzaguinha‘s beloved 1982 Brazilian classic “O que é o que é?” The track was recorded with musicians from the Rueda de Candombe, a rising Uruguayan phenomenon inspired by Brazil’s samba circle tradition.

A bridge between two cultures

Produced by Music Tour Brasil, the tour reinforces Drexler’s enduring connection with Brazilian audiences. The artist himself sums it up: “Here begins the path of ‘Taracá,’ which now finally belongs to the public and to all those who wish to cross the bridges it proposes.”
