Brazilian icon Marisa Monte recorded an exclusive version of “What a Wonderful World” for the heist film starring Fernanda Montenegro and Bruna Marquezine.
Marisa Monte delivers one of the most memorable moments in the soundtrack of Velhos Bandidos (Old Crooks). The celebrated Brazilian singer recorded an exclusive rendition of “What a Wonderful World” — the timeless classic first performed by Louis Armstrong — with an arrangement by conductor Carlos Trilha. The track scores the scene in which the film’s four protagonists mentally rehearse their bank heist, step by step.
A powerhouse cast on screen
Directed by Claudio Torres, the film follows the couple Marta (Fernanda Montenegro) and Rodolfo (Ary Fontoura), who plot an ambitious, movie-worthy bank robbery. To pull it off, they recruit a younger pair of thieves: Nancy (Bruna Marquezine) and Sid (Vladimir Brichta). The younger duo joins reluctantly — but they’re in.
The perfect plan, however, hits a snag. The crew didn’t count on the relentless determination of Oswaldo (Lázaro Ramos), a stubborn investigator who refuses to let go. The generational clash — in age and in method — drives the story forward.
