Half a century, one final chapter

Brazilian sertanejo icons Matogrosso & Mathias are bringing their landmark project to a close. On March 6, the sixth and final EP of “Pedaço de Minha Vida” (“A Piece of My Life”) drops on all major streaming platforms, wrapping up a series that celebrates 50 years of one of Brazil’s most beloved musical duos. The album revisits cherished classics while weaving in a contemporary sensibility — a delicate bridge between the past and the present.

The final installment brings together an extraordinary lineup: Daniel, Chitãozinho & Xororó, Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, César Menotti & Fabiano, and Leonardo. Together, these names represent the full arc of Brazilian sertanejo music across generations.

A golden microphone and a night to remember

One of the most emotional moments of the entire project unfolded during the recording of the medley “Cachoeira de Pranto / Triste Aniversário / Noite de Devaneios” with César Menotti & Fabiano. The brothers presented Matogrosso with a golden microphone as a tribute to his irreplaceable legacy in Brazilian music.

“You know what you mean to us and to music. You are not only eternal — you are rare. Very few people have the gift you have. We’ve had many important moments in our career, but this is truly the most important one we’ve ever had.” — César Menotti

Fabiano echoed those feelings with equal warmth. “I’m genuinely moved. My heart is overflowing with joy. So many times I listened to Matogrosso & Mathias while traveling the world. It’s an honor to sing with you — to call my idol a friend,” he said.

Legends meeting across generations

With Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, the track “Mariposa” soars across decades, evoking the kind of nostalgic warmth that only great sertanejo can produce. “De Igual Pra Igual”, recorded alongside Chitãozinho & Xororó, celebrates the deep roots that have kept the genre standing tall through every cultural shift.

Daniel breathes new life into “Selva de Pedra” and shared a personal story about how his friendship with the duo began in childhood. “When my father would take me and João Paulo around the area near Brotas, I had the honor of meeting Matogrosso & Mathias in Bauru. They were so gracious — they invited us onstage to sing. Our friendship has only grown stronger since then,” the singer recalled.

“The first time I heard ‘Selva de Pedra,’ I grabbed my phone immediately and sang a piece of it to Matogrosso. He was fascinated. We’ve had a strong connection for a long time. Beyond being idols, they are one of the best duos working today. They’ve lasted all these years because they are giants.” — Daniel

The album closes with Leonardo on “Na Hora do Adeus” — a reminder that, in music, farewell is rarely the end. Sometimes, it’s simply a beautiful way of staying.

More than a milestone — a declaration

“Pedaço de Minha Vida” is now complete. More than a commemorative release, the project stands as proof of enduring artistic relevance. Matogrosso & Mathias didn’t just survive five decades of Brazilian popular music — they helped shape it. The album will be available on all major streaming platforms starting March 6.
