Roberto Menescal took Marcello Ribeiro’s minor-key melody and flipped it major for “Um Brinde à Vida”. The single drops tomorrow across digital platforms via Zênitha Música label.
Partnership shifts the key
Ribeiro sent the original minor mode melody to the Bossa Nova pioneer. Menescal reworked it into a brighter major key, birthing a lively samba.
“He transformed the tune, giving it a fresh melodic vibe. A cool twist on my idea”, says Ribeiro. He penned the lyrics, with Menescal naming it A Toast to Life enthusiastically.
I created a minor-mode melody and sent it to Menescal, who transformed it.
Weeks of fine-tuning assembled an all-star lineup. Recorded at La Maison studio by producer Didier Fernan.
