Singer Mika Rodrigues made her debut as a vocalist of Calcinha Preta on Friday night (21) in Sorocaba (SP). The performance took place at Uzna, known as the largest covered event arena in Brazil. She steps in for Silvânia Aquino, who left the group about ten days ago after more than 25 years of history.

Backstage, in an exclusive interview with Laís Chagas, responsible for the venue’s institutional videos, Mika admitted feeling nervous. “Yes, I am very nervous, but this is a moment of great happiness for me”. She also said she felt honored to share the stage with major Brazilian voices.

On stage, Mika was applauded by the audience while performing the hit “Novo Namorado”. During the moment, she thanked the crowd: “Muito obrigada por me receberem tão bem”. Her official debut with the group will take place at Atemporal, in Campina Grande (PB), known as the largest forró festival on the planet.

The return

The show at Uzna also marked the return of Marlus Viana, who spoke exclusively with Laís Chagas backstage. “Calcinha Preta feels like home to me”, said the singer, who had been away from the group for almost ten years. He added that he admires all members and concluded: “I am back singing all the hits I recorded here”.
