Thati Moraes, Banda Rocket, and Paulo Loureiro take the stage at Soberano Jazz Club in Itaipava from March 12–14 for a week of world-class live music.
Soberano Jazz Club, nestled in the mountain town of Itaipava in the state of Rio de Janeiro, cements its reputation as a cultural hub this week with a lineup that spans Brazilian MPB, classic rock, and Motown soul. Three consecutive nights — Thursday through Saturday — bring together artists with proven careers and commanding stage presence.
Thati Moraes Channels Marisa Monte’s Soul
Thursday (Mar. 12) kicks off at 8:30 PM with singer-songwriter Thati Moraes and her project “Soul Marisa Monte”. Far from a conventional tribute, the show blends Thati’s deep roots in Black music with the songbook of one of Brazil’s most beloved pop icons.
Jazz grooves and R&B textures breathe new life into classics like “Beija Eu” and “Ainda Bem”. With a voice that moves effortlessly between tenderness and power, Thati delivers a contemporary reimagining of songs that defined a generation.
Banda Rocket Ignites Classic Rock Night
Friday (Mar. 13) at 9 PM, the energy shifts as Banda Rocket storms the stage. Known throughout the Petrópolis and Rio de Janeiro nightlife for their razor-sharp arrangements and technical precision, the five-piece band delivers a night of pure rock anthems.
Expect iconic tracks from Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Journey. The lineup: Gus Monsanto (vocals), Alex Macedo (guitar), Rodrigo Figueiredo (bass), Felipe Haubrich (drums), and Flavio Abi Daud (keyboards). A celebration of rock’s golden era, played the way it was meant to be heard.
Paulo Loureiro Pays Tribute to Stevie Wonder
Saturday (Mar. 14) at 9 PM brings the week to a soaring close as multi-instrumentalist Paulo Loureiro honors the genius of Stevie Wonder. Loureiro’s mastery of rhythm and vocal performance makes him the ideal guide through Wonder’s vast musical universe, featuring hits like “Superstition”, “Isn’t She Lovely”, and “Overjoyed”.
Backing him is a powerhouse band: Sergio Morel (guitar), Alexandre Katatau (bass), Marcos Tavares (keyboards), and Christiano Galvão (drums). The show has earned critical acclaim across Brazil for its authenticity and musicianship, honoring the enduring legacy of one of the greatest composers in music history.
The show captures Stevie Wonder’s signature harmonies and swing, delivering a night of musical excellence that celebrates the global legacy of Black music.
