At MIPIM in Cannes, Neguinho da Beija-Flor showcased Rio’s samba in a cultural event promoting Maricá’s Carnival and tourism to the world.
Brazilian samba legend Neguinho da Beija-Flor thrilled an international audience during MIPIM, the world’s largest real estate event held in Cannes, France. The performance was part of Maricá’s cultural initiative aimed at connecting global investors and political delegates with Brazilian culture through music and rhythm.
The show brought the vibrant spirit of Rio’s samba and Carnival to the French Riviera, gathering representatives from dozens of countries. Singer Jô Borges joined Neguinho on stage in a lively celebration of Brazil’s heritage and joy.
The União de Maricá samba school, recent champion of Rio’s Série Ouro and newly promoted to the top tier of Carnival 2026, also took part in the program. Their participation highlighted Maricá’s growing cultural relevance in Brazil’s Carnival scene.
The project was coordinated by Maricá’s Secretary of Tourism, José Alexandre Almeida, as part of a broader effort to position the city internationally, integrating culture, tourism, and urban development. During MIPIM, Maricá also presented urban and tourist projects to global investors, including the Maraey resort complex, a key development expected to drive sustainable growth and attract foreign investment.
