Opeth has confirmed a single Brazilian stop on “The Last Will & Testament” tour. The show lands on November 6 at Espaço Unimed in São Paulo, raising the stakes for local fans after the band’s impactful appearance at Monsters of Rock 2025.
The Last Will & Testament tour hits Brazil
Produced by Mercury Concerts, the run supports “The Last Will & Testament,” billed as one of the Swedish band’s most ambitious releases. The album won a 2025 Grammis (Sweden’s top music prize) for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album, following an earlier Grammis for “Deliverance” (2003) in Best Hard Rock Performance.
Framed as the band’s darkest and heaviest work in decades, “The Last Will & Testament” also doubles down on progressive structures, detailed arrangements, and a cinematic mood that’s built for the stage.
A concept story with teeth
As a full concept album, “The Last Will & Testament” centers on a recently deceased man’s will being read to his family, exposing secrets, conflict, and betrayal. Set symbolically in the 1920s, it plays like a classic thriller with psychological tension and sharp reflections on family and inheritance.

The record also marks the return of Mikael Åkerfeldt’s death-metal growls for the first time since “Watershed” (2008), balanced with progressive passages and a tightly wound, emotional atmosphere.
Featured guests include Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), who voices the story’s protagonist and adds signature flute lines, plus Joey Tempest (Europe) in a high-profile cross-generational moment for Swedish rock.

Onstage, the current lineup is set: Mikael Åkerfeldt (vocals, guitar), Fredrik Åkesson (guitar), Martin Mendez (bass), Joakim Svalberg (keyboards), and drummer Waltteri Väyrynen, who made his studio debut with Opeth on this album and has drawn praise for technical precision.
